Principal's Message

Greetings Future & Present Spartans!

The last couple of years has been filled with ups and downs, historic events, social unrest, and stories upon stories of struggle. The last couple of years have also been filled with breakthroughs, the advancement of human causes, resiliency on a global scale, and stories upon stories of leadership that has gotten us through the ups and downs. Those deemed essential workers by their role have put their lives on the line to provide necessities like food, water, education, and health care. For this, we are all grateful to you!

At Huntington Park High School we are preparing our students for the present and future. All too often we think of school as a preparation for another time and another place, however, as recent events have shown us, living in the present requires immediate skills and capacity that with time and continued development will grow stronger citizens for our democracy.

We continue to strengthen our programs. Our Culinary, Construction, and Digital Media CTE Pathways will now offer capstone courses. Our STEAM Magnet will continue to grow and bolster our programming and engineering courses offered to all. Students will now have more opportunities to learn Spanish, German, and Chinese-Mandarin which are foreign languages that are essential for local and global communication. Our Grammy Signature School Music Program will build on the talents of our young Spartans. Once possible again, our Theatre program will pick up where it left off and continue providing cultural enrichment to the community through its productions. Our athletics program took the initial steps in returning to campus and have great success despite all the challenges presented.

The greatest asset at Huntington Park High School are the staff that serve the community. Through collaboration, initiative, reflection and a commitment to the people we serve our work will continue improving and we will better respond to the needs of our current reality...increased civil unrest and over a year away from campus due to the pandemic.

We look forward to working with you and your child. The first step is to create a Parent Portal account and ensure we have accurate phone numbers, emails, and information.

With Honor & Pride,
