Principal's Message

Greetings Huntington Park High School Community Members and Welcome to the 2018 - 2019 School Year! We are celebrating 110 years of existence. We have reimagined Huntington Park High School through an updated mission, vision, core values, and student learner outcomes. We will enthusiastically continue with some tried and true programs and embark on new initiatives that will help better prepare our students to be college and career ready!

CONTINUING OUR TRADITION OF SUCCESS

Our AVID provides access support strategies to our students. 100% of our first AVID class graduated last year and all were accepted to a university or 2-year college. Students in our music, band, and athletics programs continue bringing home championships. The commitment of our teachers has allowed us to continue offering students a wide variety of AP classes and compete with other schools through Academic Decathlon Team. Our school newspaper, The Spartan Shield, will continue its coverage of events and tell the story of the great things happening at Huntington Park through social media (#HPSpartanNation).  Students have the opportunity to follow their interests and complete career pathways in Culinary Arts and Digital Media Design. Forensics is offered to students interested in seeking careers in criminal justice.

THE FUTURE IS NOW!

We have been busy since last year preparing some new opportunities for our Spartans! All families in LAUSD will be able to apply to the Huntington Park High School S.T.E.A.M. Magnet, the first of its kind in the area. On-time applications begin Monday, October 1, 2018, and are due by Friday, November 9, 2018. Register Online at https://goto.lausd.net. The new MESA program at HP will be an additional opportunity to motivate and prepare students to enroll in college for majors in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.  New to HP this year is the Theatre/Drama program which will develop and showcase the talents of our students through musicals and plays. Drones and Robotics will make their debut as part of our after-school programs. Finally, a much anticipated $113 million modernization project will bring new facilities to HPHS. Work is scheduled to begin at the end of this school year.

These are just some of the opportunities offered to our students which would not be possible if not for the strength, commitment, and support of our teachers, students, and staff that help make the Spartan Nation a Greater Nation!

I invite all of you to join in on the great things happening at Huntington Park Highs School. IF ______________, then ___________________.

Respectfully,
