"The more slowly trees GROW at first, the sounder they are at the CORE. And I think the same is TRUE of human beings."
--Henry David Thoreau

There is nothing more exciting than doing what you love and I love being part of HPHS STEAM Magnet! I have been teaching high school science for almost 20 years and I plan to keep going for another 20 more. This year, I am teaching all the classes you see to the left of this web page. I am also MESA Co-Advisor (stands for Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement), Climate Champion and Robotics club coach. I love cats and dogs, hiking and camping the great outdoors, dancing of all types, ice cream, reading fiction, nonfiction and comic books, playing board games with my two kids and learning new and quirky things.
My educational mission is to instill a love for life-long learning, problem-solving and giving back to the community in the Spartans that come through my classroom. Science is most effective when applied towards designing solutions for wicked problems that others cannot solve. The best part of being a teacher is when I can guide students to safely build their next big idea and watch them test and improve their crazy inventions. Don't be surprised to find out that you have the next great innovator or scientist living in your own household!
